We’re asking local residents in the Lowestoft area to share their thoughts on proposed improvement plans to the library space.

This public consultation will help inform a bid for future funding to improve the library space, making it more accessible and more welcoming for all library users and visitors.

The plans are available to view on this document and can also be viewed in Lowestoft Library.

We’re inviting Lowestoft Library users to review the proposed changes and would be grateful for feedback to be shared using this online survey before Monday 4 May.

The proposed changes to the library are in two parts:

First floor proposals:
We are proposing to move the bookable room (up to 45 people) to the front of the building (currently situated at the back of the building).

The study and local history area would stay in the middle with a non-fiction library area towards the back of the first floor. This should create more light and provide more space for community events.

Ground floor proposals:
We would like to remove the current café counter and kitchen. This would provide a clear view through the library from the front to the back. It would create more flexible space for displays and exhibitions.

We also intend to move the reception desk so staff can see more of the library and work more safely, with clearer access to exits if needed.

The online survey for customer feedback will close on Monday 4 May.
