Henry’s review:

Have you tried out ‘Kanopy Kids’? You’re presented with a dashboard where you can Go Wild across a thoughtfully curated catalogue, and furthermore everything on Kanopy Kids takes zero tickets off your account!

Amongst this catalogue is a quality selection of BBC Studios-produced entertainment (fully streamable without a license required), and at the top of Henry’s list of their nature-themed shows is Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest.

The beloved wildlife presenter Ranger Hamza takes the viewer on his ‘Eco Quest’, showing us a range of natural yet everyday wonders from Allotments and Acorns to Seals and Woodpeckers. It thoughtfully focuses on one facet of nature in each episode in a framing that shows how deep one’s appreciation can be in even the smallest of places.

It also covers a range that means those in Rural, Coastal and Urban areas can connect with it, the ‘Dandelion’ episode being a personal favourite. Hamza has a very well-measured style that manages to convey his subject with approachable clarity without a hint of condescension, which can often be made to look easy when done particularly well.

Whisper it quietly out of due veneration, but it’s my opinion the BBC might have a worthy successor to Attenborough on their hands…
