Christmas Toy Appeal
Help make this Christmas extra special for Suffolk families.
This Christmas, Suffolk Community Libraries is teaming up with BBC Radio Suffolk and Vertas for a special toy appeal as part of our Warm Welcome cost-of-living support campaign.
As part of our Be Kind to a Kid at Christmas toy appeal, some of our libraries are accepting toy donations to pass on to children who’d appreciate an extra present this Christmas.
Together with BBC Radio Suffolk, we’re working with local charities and organisations to ensure these toys reach the families who really need them.
Where can I donate toys?
We’re accepting toy donations at the following libraries:
- Bury St Edmunds
- Ipswich
- Lowestoft
- Beccles
- Felixstowe
- Gainsborough
- Haverhill
- Newmarket
- Stowmarket
- Woodbridge
- Kesgrave
- Sudbury.
You can find opening times for all participating libraries on our website. Please note that our mobile libraries will not be able to accept toys due to reduced storage space.
Toys must be dropped off at a participating library before Friday 4th December.
What kind of toys can I donate?
We can only accept new toys which have not been hand-made or hand-knitted for health and safety reasons.
- New toys only
- Toys suitable for any age between 0-12 years old
- Gender neutral toys would be useful to ensure we have a broad mix for everyone
- Ideally toys which would fit in a shoebox or bag
- Toys that don’t require batteries, power chargers, or a subscription
- Suggested cost per toy between £5 and £10 so everyone gets something of roughly the same value.
You don’t have to wrap the presents yourself as we will need to check the quality of the toys before passing them onto families.
