This year’s festival, which runs from 9-12 October, will bring a glorious array of writers to Bury St Edmunds to talk about why and how they write, what or who inspires them, and to share their stories.
Events in the library will include:

Poppy & Sam storytelling session on Saturday 11 October at 11:45

Suitable for children aged 5+ and their grown-ups.
Booking is required. Tickets are free entry for under 18s and £2.50 for adults. Book your tickets on the festival website.
Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival features crime writers, authors of historical fiction, writers exploring myths and legends, biographers and nature writers, writers whose books are born from war or the fear of climate change, writers whose books will just make you happy. There are events for children and young adults, poets, cooks and gardeners as well as workshops for budding writers, there will even be films and guided walks to go with some of the books.
Julia Wakelam, Chair of Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival said:
“There is nothing formal or stuffy about our events, we just want to share our love of reading with everyone so come along! My own love of reading began young and I have a vivid memory of being given my first library tickets and realising I could read all those books! So I am absolutely delighted that this year some of our events are being run with the brilliant Bury St Edmunds Library, already a happy place for my grandchildren. I look forward to deepening our relationship in future years.”
