We’re letting customers know about some upcoming improvements to our online Spydus library catalogue system.

On Tuesday 24th February, the public catalogue will be unavailable while these updates are taking place behind the scenes. You won’t be able to access your account to renew or reserve library loans or search the catalogue whilst the work is taking place.

Any loans due back on this date will be extended for a further week.

After this update is complete, you will see some improvements to the catalogue including:

  • A more engaging front page
  • More discovery features such as themed recommendations, helping people find new books to borrow and read
  • Links to seasonal promotions so you can keep up to date with exciting library events and programmes.

We are also planning further developments in the near future, which will see improved search results, including showing you if a title is also available as an eBook or eAudiobook.

A Spydus library app will also hopefully be introduced soon, which will give you the option of a digital library card on your phone.

While online access to the catalogue will be unavailable on the 24th February, staff in libraries can still help you with basic functions such as loans, renewals and returns. However, please note they will have limited access to the catalogue too.

Please be aware that this scheduled downtime will also affect customers logging into our eLibrary services such as BorrowBox ir Libė.

If you are already logged in to the relevant app, your experience will not be disrupted, but anyone not logged in on this date will not be able to access these services until the 25th.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work but it’s an essential upgrade which will improve the catalogue for all our users.
