Join bookbinding extraordinaire Hazel Garrity at Gainsborough Community Library and learn how to make personalised journals using traditional bookbinding techniques and tools! This is part of O Projeto Página em Branco which offers high-quality creative workshops for 10-16 year olds during the school holidays.
Workshops take place from 9.45AM to 3.30PM and include lunch, drinks and snacks!
Follow step-by-step demonstrations and surprise yourself by learning new skills. You will make a carefully crafted journal from scratch choosing from a range of colourful papers and adding your own special details. It’s fun to include inserts, pull-outs, envelopes, flaps and recycled materials to reflect your personality and interests. You will be proud to take home your unique book and can continue to add more words and images in the months to come.
How to book
Workshops must be booked in advance. You can book online via Eequ. If your booking is made within 72 hours of the workshop, we may not be able to accommodate specific dietary requirements. Please get in touch with the library location for the workshop to discuss options. Please note that whilst we welcome all young people, our staff are not specifically SEND trained.

About Hazel Garrity
Hazel’s chief enthusiasms have always been words, books and making things. As a secondary school English teacher, she has worked with young people to give them the confidence to be creative with language. Now she wants to explore the possibilities offered by combining words with the traditional craft of constructing books in different forms and expressing ideas in different ways.
