Join musician Ben Brown and visual artist Catalina Carvajal at Chantry Library and explore your innate creativity to spontaneously create exciting and unique works of audio and visual art!
This is part of O Projeto Página em Branco which offers high-quality creative workshops for 10-16 year olds during the school holidays.
Workshops take place from 9.45AM to 3.30PM and include lunch, drinks and snacks! Book this workshop on Eequ.
Participants will go on a creative journey, writing and recording a song with Ben and creating the cover art with Catalina. In this workshop we will explore songwriting; rhythm, rhyming and harmony as well as visual arts. Together we will write a song by brainstorming ideas and using a variety of creative techniques and games.
Once created, we will then record the song in the space! We will also cocreate a piece of cover art to accompany the track. The completed tracks will be uploaded to Bandcamp as part of the Blank Page EP which will be downloadable for free (individual participants will not be named).
Please do not bring instruments to this workshop.
How to book
Workshops must be booked in advance. You can book online via Eequ. If your booking is made within 72 hours of the workshop, we may not be able to accommodate specific dietary requirements. Please get in touch with the library location for the workshop to discuss options.
Please note that whilst we welcome all young people, our staff are not specifically SEND trained.
This workshop is for 10-16 year olds only. If you feel your child requires additional support in the form of adult attendance in order to access this workshop, contact us by emailing blankpage@suffolk.gov.uk.

About Ben Brown and Catalina Carvajal
Ben is a social musician and composer based in Manningtree. He is passionate about music making in all settings and with all groups of people. He believes everybody is musical and that anyone can make music with anyone else, and is privileged to be able to facilitate this process; it is a source of unending inspiration and enjoyment.
Catalina is a visual artist with a passion for illustration, murals, storytelling, and colour. She’s also passionate about music and has designed a few album covers. You can find her mural work around East Anglia. Catalina enjoys working with digital and mixed media and takes inspiration from drawing in her sketchbooks, listening to music and observing the world. She is originally from Colombia and lived in Mexico before arriving in the UK seven years ago.
