Suffolk Community Libraries has introduced more baby weighing facilities available in libraries across the county.

The baby weighing scales have been provided by Suffolk County Council’s family hubs network and are now available in 30 of our libraries.

The scales provide an ideal way to monitor the weight and health of your baby or toddler to complement the baby weighing clinics offered by health visiting teams. Clear instructions on how to use the scales are provided in the library.

The following 17 libraries have recently received new scales that are ready to use:

  • Aldeburgh
  • Bungay
  • Capel St Mary
  • Elmswell
  • Ochi
  • Framlingham
  • Glemsford
  • Great Cornard
  • Halesworth
  • Kesgrave
  • Kessingland
  • Lakenheath
  • Leiston
  • Piața Needham
  • Oulton Broad
  • Southwold
  • Stoke.

The full list of all 30 libraries with baby weighing scales, including dates and times when available, can be viewed pe site-ul nostru web.

Erin Hamilton, Early Literacy and Youth Engagement Lead for Suffolk Community Libraries, said:

“We are so pleased to offer more families the opportunity to weigh their babies in our libraries. It’s such a vital part of those first few months of life with a new baby.”

Please note that library staff can guide and signpost you to sources of support but will not be able to weigh babies or offer advice on baby weight or other postnatal services.

Many of our libraries run Stay & Play groups for babies and toddlers under the age of 5 – a chance for parents to socialise and give their babies and young children a fun, interactive play session that engages their senses and helps their development. All events for children are available to browse on our What’s On page.

All our libraries are also breastfeeding-friendly venues so little ones can always find a welcoming and safe space to feed.
