Join local bookbinder Paul Garcia for an insightful talk all about bookbinding!
Paul will explain the properties and foibles of the principal materials used to make books, paper and leather. He will take you on a short history of bookbinding, show some famous and not-so-famous bindings from the past to the present, and reveal a tale of disaster!

Paul Garcia makes traditionally bound books, from sections sewn by hand with linen thread. He likes to experiment with edge decoration using acrylic, graphite and gold leaf, and always incorporates handsewn silk endbands into the design.
There will be a display of handmade books and a hidden fore-edge painting on the day.
