Suffolk Community Libraries is delighted to announce the appointment of six new Creative Health Associate Artists<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The artists were selected after taking part in an intensive week-long Creative Health residency at Lowestoft Library earlier this year. During the week, the artists explored how libraries can support creativity, wellbeing and environmental advocacy within local communities.<\/p>\n

The residency brought together artists and partner organisations to examine the role libraries can play as welcoming shared spaces that connect people with culture, nature and community health initiatives.<\/p>\n

Throughout the week, the artists explored new approaches to creative health and environmental advocacy, challenging and developing their own practice while considering how cultural experiences can support wellbeing and encourage sustainable habits.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis marks a significant step forward in our Creative Health programme, which explores the role of libraries as vital spaces at the intersection of environmental action, creativity, and wellbeing. Each artist will work closely with our team to co-create, research, and deliver pilot Creative Health programmes as part of their commission.<\/em>

\n“Drawing on their individual practices, the artists will collaborate with Suffolk\u2019s library staff and communities to ensure each programme is meaningfully co-produced and designed for maximum impact.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Libraries are uniquely placed to support this work as accessible community spaces where people can connect, learn and take part in creative activities. Suffolk Community Libraries is committed to developing sustainable, artist-led programmes that support both participants and the freelance creative workforce, helping people to live healthier, more connected lives.<\/p>\n

As Creative Health Associate Artists, the six artists will work with libraries to produce and deliver a pilot Creative Health programme, while also undertaking further professional development and training opportunities.<\/p>\n

The residency included guest speakers and workshops from partners and organisations including Suffolk Artlink, Culture Health & Wellbeing Alliance, Green Light Trust, Natural Habitat and Suffolk Wildlife Trust. The programme also featured an away day at Carlton Marshes.<\/p>\n
